The Ferrari Mondial QV - aka - Quattrovalvole was introduced in 1983 and produced until 1985. The QV designated the fitment of a four valve head to the 2.9 V8 and power rose from 214 bhp to 240 bhp. This was in response to media and customer feedback that even as an entry model Ferrari, there was a desire for more performance. The power increase resulted in a useful reduction of 0-60 time from 8.2 to 6.4 seconds and felt much stronger in real road driving conditions.
The Mondial QV was a 2+2 which came in both Coupe and Convertible body styles and between 1983 and 1985, 1145 Coupe and 629 Cabriolets were sold. An eminently usable and practical car, the QV addressed the previous critiscsms relating to the lack of straightline go of the Mondial 8 launch model and introduced an authentic but usable platform for new Ferrari owners.
