Ferrari F40 History, Specifications and Spares | GTO Classic Ferrari Parts
F40
Pininfarina-designed and a body built mainly from composites, the high-performance F40 had turbo-charged engine running gear combined with a chassis that gave it the dynamics close to that of a racing car, the F40 was conceived to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary.
The F40 continued the special series and extreme performance philosophy of the 288 GTO but took it to whole new level. The F40 was to be the last new car presentation attended by Enzo Ferrari.
Production continued through to 1992, during which time 1,311 examples were produced in the chassis number range 76624 to 95317, nearly five times as many as the 288 GTO. Racing versions with the suffixes LM and GT-E were developed by Michelotto of Padova, and enjoyed success over a number of years during the nineties in European GT racing with various private entrants.
Our experienced Ferrari-trained technicians service a number of F40 in our workshops in both the UK and US, ranging from minor mechanical repair work to major overhauls. We look after and maintain several examples, storing them for clients in our secure facility near our main UK workshop.
